The Story
The story of the Baresi & Caine atelier.
Inside The Manufacture

Where every commission takes its first shape.

Every Baresi & Caine commission begins with a conversation.

A client may arrive with a vision entirely their own, or discover an initial design within the Atelier Book that speaks to them, a starting point from which something deeply personal can be created.

From there, we begin to understand the person behind the commission.

We talk about what the watch should represent, the story it might carry and the moments, passions or people that hold meaning for its future owner.

Some clients know precisely what they want. Others are drawn to a particular form, material or design and allow the idea to evolve through conversations with our Atelier.

An initial Baresi & Caine design may inspire the beginning, but the finished commission is shaped around the individual.

Our role is to take that first idea and transform it into a watch that becomes unmistakably theirs.

— The Conversation

The first stage is about discovering what the watch should become.

We explore its character, its presence on the wrist and the story behind the commission. We discuss the client's tastes and inspirations, from architecture, automotive design and art to a significant place, achievement, memory or person.

These conversations give the Atelier something far more valuable than a list of specifications.

They give us a story to tell.

— Materials & Details

With the direction established, we begin exploring the elements that will define the watch.

The client is invited to consider precious metals, natural marble and stone, dial treatments, gemstones, diamonds, strap materials and colours, engraving and other personal details.

A Carrara marble dial can create an entirely different character to Nero Portoro. Platinum brings a different presence to rose or yellow gold. Diamonds can be discreetly introduced or become an important part of the design. A particular gemstone might carry personal significance.

Every decision is considered as part of the whole.

Nothing is chosen simply because it can be. It has to belong to the story.

— The Design

The ideas gathered during our conversations are then brought into the Baresi & Caine Atelier.

Our designers begin developing the commission, balancing creativity with the discipline of fine watchmaking.

Concepts are presented privately to the client and refined together. Proportions, materials, colours and individual details evolve until the watch feels resolved.

Only when both the client and the Atelier are satisfied does the commission progress into manufacture.

— Watching Your Watch Come to Life

We believe the creation should be remembered almost as much as the finished watch.

Throughout manufacture, the client remains connected to the Atelier.

Private updates provide glimpses into the creation of their timepiece, from individual components and material preparation to machining, finishing, assembly and the details that make their commission unique.

Rather than seeing only the beginning and the finished result, the client is able to follow the transformation of an idea into a mechanical object.

The story of the watch begins long before it reaches the wrist.

— An Invitation To La Chaux-de-Fonds

At an appropriate stage during the creation of the commission, Baresi & Caine extends a private invitation to the client to join us in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

We arrange their journey to visit our manufacturing office and experience the world in which their watch is being created.

Here, we take the client behind the scenes.

They can see components from their own commission, understand the processes involved in their manufacture and finishing, and meet members of the team responsible for bringing the watch to life.

It is an opportunity to experience Swiss watchmaking not from the outside, but from within it.

For us, this is an important part of an Atelier commission.

You should know where your watch came from, how it was created and the people whose hands brought it into existence.

— The Final Stages

As the commission approaches completion, every detail is brought together.

The movement, dial, case, hands, gemstones, strap and individually commissioned elements become one.

The watch then undergoes its final assembly, testing and quality control in Switzerland.

Only when the Atelier is satisfied that the watch represents the original vision is the commission considered complete.

And then comes the moment the entire process has been leading towards.

— Personally Delivered

We do not believe the conclusion of such a personal journey should be reduced to a delivery.

When the watch is complete, Baresi & Caine personally hand delivers the finished commission to its owner.

The watch is presented privately, allowing us to reveal the finished piece and share that final moment with the person whose ideas began its creation.

From the first conversation to the final presentation, the relationship between client and Atelier remains personal.

Because commissioning a Baresi & Caine should feel very different from simply acquiring a watch.

It is something you were part of creating.

One Story. One Owner. One Watch.

A Baresi & Caine Atelier commission can begin with a completely original idea or with a design discovered within our Atelier Book.

What follows is a collaboration.

A story is developed. Materials are explored. Details are considered. The watch is designed, created and finished in Switzerland, with the client invited into that world along the way.

And when the journey is complete, the watch that emerges belongs to one person alone.

Never replicated.
Never repeated.
Yours alone.

Every commission begins with a conversation, not a catalogue.
